Wellness check-ins that actually work

Andrei Stroia 2025-05-28

Wellness check-ins are simple in concept: ask athletes how they feel, track the data, spot trends. In practice, the hardest part isn't the questions — it's getting athletes to actually do them.

The secret is brevity. A wellness check-in should take no more than 30 seconds. Sleep quality, soreness, fatigue, mood. Four sliders, one tap to submit. If it takes longer, compliance drops.

The second secret is feedback. Athletes need to see that their data matters. If they fill in a check-in for two weeks and nothing changes, they stop. Show them their trends. Show coaches acting on the data. Close the loop.

The third secret is timing. Send the prompt at the same time every day — ideally 30 minutes before the first session. Make it a habit, not a chore.

At Kinetiq, we've built wellness check-ins into the athlete portal. 30 seconds, four metrics, instant trend visibility for coaches. No spreadsheets, no WhatsApp polls, no guesswork.
